Why Hire an RMT (Registered Massage Therapist)?
As great as a back rub from your loved one feels, sometimes you need the professional touch of a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). After all, your body does a lot for you and it deserves the best!
But first, how do you know if a massage therapy clinic or a particular massage therapist is professional?
Here in British Columbia, Registered Massage Therapists are recognized healthcare professionals. They are governed by the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC) and are legislated by the government under the BC Health Professions Act.
Only registrants of the CMTBC are entitled to use the titles “registered massage therapist”, “massage therapist”, “registered massage practitioner”, “massage practitioner” or any other name or description that implies that the person is registered with CMTBC.
When you choose a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) over an unlicensed practitioner, you know you’ll be receiving the highest quality care from a trained professional. Plus…
An RMT Massage Gets Results
Registered massage therapists must undergo over 3,000 hours of training over the course of 2 or 3 years—more hours than a typical 4-year bachelor degree. As well, they are required to participate in ongoing training and education to ensure their skills remain current and relevant.
Therapists are trained in everything from anatomy and physiology to arthrology and neurology and learn various techniques, theories and methods of massage. What’s more, they’re also trained in rehabilitative exercises such as stretching and strengthening.
Your Registered Massage Therapist has the practical skills and knowledge necessary to restore and maintain optimal health. In other words, they’re trained to get results!
An RMT Massage is Tailored to You
Registered Massage Therapists ask the right questions, make careful observations, and use a customized approach to get to the root of your unique concerns.
During your first visit, you will fill out a confidential medical history form to ensure we can treat you safely and effectively. Then, your RMT will discuss with you your current symptoms and treatment goals. This information will help your therapist develop a personalized treatment plan based on your specific needs. Following your massage, your therapist may give you stretches or home care advice to further improve your condition.
