James Dobby grew up on Vancouver Island’s central coast where he explored many outdoor activities and participated in various sports. From those experiences, he became fascinated by the human body and how to best achieve health and wellness. James is a recent graduate from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy school in Victoria. Prior to starting the massage therapy program, he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Sport, Health and Physical Education from Vancouver Island University.
While working in the massage therapy student clinic, James enjoyed the opportunity working with a variety of both acute and chronic conditions such as strains, sprains, postural imbalances, sinusitis and tension headaches. James believes in patient centred-care approach and adjusts each treatment to meet clients individual goals and needs. Techniques he uses can include deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, isolytic release and assisted stretching. He enjoys strength training in his own health life and incorporates body-weight strength and stretching exercises into many homecare plans.
Outside of the massage therapy profession, James enjoys hiking, strength training & stretching, ice hockey, rock climbing and has a new passion for vegetable gardening.
